Cuscuta pumpkin face

A new web site on dodder has been created by Mihai Costea called "The Digital Atlas of Cuscuta".  The detailed photographs will assist those engaged in the  task of identifying species in this difficult genus.

cover AJB Hydnora

A parasitic plant makes the cover of American Journal of Botany -- again!  Following on the heels of the April issue (with Tristerix) comes Hydnora africana, highlighting an article by Tennakoon et al. on the vegetative morphology and anatomy of H. triceps, a hypogeous root holoparasite. See AJB 2007, vol. 94, 1439-1449.
